I am a Principal Researcher at Microsoft Research India, where I build human-centered AI systems that address real-world challenges, particularly in healthcare. My work spans mobile health sensing, agentic AI systems, and computer vision for medical imaging. From smartphone-based diagnostic technologies commercialized and acquired by industry to AI chatbots serving 15,000+ frontline health workers and 20,000+ patients, I focus on translating research into technologies that can be deployed and scaled in real-world settings. My work involves extensive collaboration with clinicians, hospitals, NGOs, academia, and government.

Over 15 years across Microsoft, Amazon, and IBM, I have worked at the intersection of AI, ubiquitous computing, and human-computer interaction (HCI), with applications spanning healthcare, sustainability, education, and agriculture. My work has resulted in 19 patents, 70+ peer-reviewed publications, and 10 Best Paper and Honorable Mention awards. My research has also been featured by the BBC, MIT Technology Review, and leading Indian media.

I received my Ph.D. in Computer Science & Engineering from the University of Washington, where I worked at the intersection of HCI and AI, focusing on the interactivity, accessibility, and security of conversational systems. During my Ph.D., I also worked as a Senior Research Engineer in the Cognitive IoT team at IBM Research India. I hold an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Toronto and a B.Tech. in Information and Communication Technology from DA-IICT.
